the secret?

September 14, 2008

starting to read this book called the secret… chapter 0… something about the law of attraction?

The clues given by the author are

1. Without promotion something terrible happens – nothing!

2. More persons, on the whole are humbugged by believing in nothing than by believing too much.

3. Those who really desire to attain an independence, have only to set their minds upon it, and adopt the proper means, as they do in regard to any other object which they wish to accomplish, and the thing is easily done.

Interesting…

Franklin’s 13 virtues:

  • temperance
  • silence
  • order
  • resolution
  • frugality & industry – free from debt, produce affluence and independence, easier to practice…
  • sincerity & justice
  • moderation
  • cleanliness
  • tranquility
  • chastity
  • humility

Little Boxes

Melody -

Malvina Reynolds

1. Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes made of ticky-tacky,
Little boxes, little boxes,
Little boxes, all the same.
There’s a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they’re all made out of ticky-tacky
And they all look just the same.

2. And the people in the houses
All go to the university,
And they all get put in boxes,
Little boxes, all the same.
And there’s doctors and there’s lawyers
And business executives,
And they’re all made out of ticky-tacky
And they all look just the same.

  3. And they all play on the golf-course,
And drink their Martini dry,
And they all have pretty children,
And the children go to school.
And the children go to summer camp
And then to the university,
And they all get put in boxes
And they all come out the same.

4. And the boys go into business,
And marry, and raise a family,
And they all get put in boxes,
Little boxes, all the same.
There’s a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they’re all made out of ticky-tacky
And they all look just the same.
