Anyway, an update:
1) Bring students to attend workshop
2) Go dinner with uni buddies
3) Type remarks (600 characters X 40 monkeys…)
4) jog/briskwalk
5) Mark CA – Answer schemes not in yet… how to mark!??!
Met up with friends for kopi, dinner and icecream (yum!!!) yest. Chatted abt a variety of things… work, r/s, life, interests… so now I know there’s a diff between manga and anime… and it’s something called fillers… also now know something called “Host” (???) and “Bleach” (???) hahahaha
“Believe you can do it. Believing something can be done puts your
mind to work for you and helps you find ways to do it.”

Many people are surprised by many items on my “my50″ list. I wonder why. Always believed that if you can concieve it, you can achieve it. (some quote stolen from somewhere… wait… let me google for it… Napoleon Hill said ‘ What ever the mind of man can conceive and believe it can achieve’) So let’s go ahead and try to achieve it
So far, responses have ranged from shocked (‘what, you mean you’ve never tried (…) before?’), to discouraging (‘please lah, you sure you wanna do that? What for?’) to helpful (‘you may want to modify to (…). It’s safer/more realistic’) to encouraging (‘hey I wanna do that too! Let’s go together!)

3 more working days till the one week break. Sigh… this year I seem to feel more tired than the past years. Actually got to the point that I went into the General Office, hung around there for like 10 min, didn’t sign out and then happily walked out of the gate. Really LOW in energy…
Anyway, weekend finally coming… Let me list the things to do… keke
1) Bring students to attend workshop
2) Go dinner with uni buddies
3) Type remarks (600 characters X 40 monkeys…)
4) jog/briskwalk

hmm… got to talk to some interesting people today.
1) This 18 yo gal… dropped out of sch in Sec 5 due to some problems. She saw her parents begging for her to have a 2nd chance to study in school, but she told her parents she will achieve her O levels on her own. 2nd try this year. Reflected that she would be in Poly 2 if not for her problems then.
Very courageous and goal oriented gal. I’m sure she’ll reach her goals soon. Really felt humbled from the conversation with her, short as it was. Had I faced the same problems as she did, back then when I was an O levels student, I’m not too sure if I would perserve like she is doing. Takes someone with a lot of determination and courage to admit to it and to work on improving her weaknesses.
2) 20 yo gal who talked non-stop about pubbing in various places. Thought it was pretty ok, after all, we are all only young once. However, later discovered she has a newborn. Does that mean she dumped her baby at home or with a maid while she was out partying and getting drunk till 3 am? hmm…
Personally don’t drink. Okay with friends who drink casually, but they gotta know their limits, for getting drunk makes an ugly picture. Should also know his/her priorities before doing things bah…

(in no particular order)
met up with YR yesterday for a quick stroll in our neighbourhood and talked to an “old” friend online… talked about some stuff… got to know more of our friends getting married… *jaw drop* Still intend to have a bit more of single fun before settling down leh!!! And these pple are like getting married right out of uni??? hmm… (think one of our friends got married right out of NIE)
anywayz, we ended up talking about SDU vs intro by friends. They were saying it is “safer” for the latter as your friends wouldn’t intro someone with a “bad” background to you. My point was… They will not INTENTIONALLY intro someone like that to you, but… how many of your friends do you know to the extent of knowing about their younger days? Still need to judge on your own… and… I guess, with mutual friends, the introducer(s) will be definitely kaypoh about the outcome. And whatever you say will eventually get back to him! hmm… pros and cons…
YR also asked abt my criteria… got me thinking too…
But… think I’m still at the “expanding network” stage bah… so anyone also can… so long as they don’t always go pubbing and clubbing bah… coz I don’t like… New friends bring new perspectives to my life… learning things from everyone I meet these days
hmm… I seem to have a few more points somewhere, but I must have lost myself somewhere… lolxxx!!!

keke… yesterday was FUN!!!!
attended an event at CMPB yesterday… met a lot a lot of new people, and met up with some old friends too… JC schoolmates, friends from previous events etc. Got to meet some of their friends too
Played some games too. Won some vouchers, got a free movie tix… got 2 cardholders… only problem now is where to find the namecards to put inside? hmm…
Joined some of the participants for dinner, talked about their jobs, talked about our jobs, talked about the events etc. hmm… the usual first group dinner I guess, where lots of silences, but quite an interesting group of people
Let’s see if future outings get better
met some old friends for a cuppa. Got suanned left and right as I was sms-ing all the way. Not with one of the guys, but with a girlfriend who didn’t manage to register for the event. keke…

SMILE
Author Unknown
A Smile costs nothing, but gives much
It enriches those who receive, without making poorer those who give
It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever
None is so rich or mighty that he can get along without it,
and none is so poor, but that he can be made rich by it
A Smile creates happiness in the home, fosters good will in business,
and is the countersign of friendship
It brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad,
and it is nature’s best antidote for trouble.
Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen,
for it is something that is of no value to anyone, until it is given away
Some people are too tired to give you a smile;
Give them one of yours, as none needs a smile so much as he who has no more to give.

hmm… the fireworks are over… I still gotta say this (although I’ve been saying to everyone I’ve met in the past few days) TEAM NEW CALEDONIA RAWKS!!! super nice display. Shall miss it for a long time to come…

Tried some experimental shots too…

By comparison, Team France was duller, less interesting. Guess it would have been good on its own, but… coming the day after New Caledonia, I guess I was slightly disappointed. Expected a little more than that from the international champion

Still quite high on fireworks
Went quite early on 8th Aug to chope place on esplanade bridge. around 5:30. Friends started joining me about 15 min later. Passed time till 9 pm (when the fireworks started) by chit chatting, singing community songs (me only), taking night shots, eating etc. Gosh… you’d never believe it, but friends who reached past 7:30 couldn’t make their way up the bridge already
anyway, the fireworks was fantastic ![]()

NDP was also good
Went with 3 friends to some jetty near kallang to watch NDP flypast and fireworks. Always feel the pride when I see my flag flying past above me. This year was no different

Also took the fireworks. Thought it would be much more impressive as this would be the last year at the stadium. It’d be making way for a “bigger, better” national stadium, but oh well, call me a boring gal who lives in the past, but I WILL miss the stadium… the parades, the soccer matches, the track and field meets… need I say more? Anyway, more fireworks here

what an exciting weekend!!
Went for an event on Friday. Basically, psychometric tests lah… seems like I am a playful person looking for an intelligent partner… hmm… shall I say I’m not 100% sure about the former but the latter is spot on? gosh… and apparently, I have a big ego (true true) and an inflated sense of self importance, have many friends, some of whom are codependent on me, and am pure… hahaha…
Sat was even more exciting!! First entry for Singapore Fireworks Festival!! Cool
Did I mention that I really really love watching fireworks? The atmosphere, the sounds (loud),the screams when the fireworks look really beautiful, and the excitement. Not to mention the shoot
Went with a few photographers. We had dinner (chicken rice balls… correction, chicken rice ball. It was one big ball!), then walked over to esplanade. Got a pretty good spot. Went to look for some friends, and bumped into my boss.. walked past him and his gf (??) to get to the centre to wave to them… still really excited from the fireworks

Mood:
Pure (remember??? haha… more of excited lah…)
